There is an established program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. [CCLR Sec. 46(1)]

Observation. LO observed staff preparing children for snack, they were placed in high chairs and hands wiped with dam cloths. Discussion regarding the importance of teaching independence and good hygiene practice of children washing their hands prior to snack.

The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

Observation. LO observed the following within the outdoor space - child safety gates that were used in some of the rooms are stored in the corner behind a stroller, a tarp is covering building supplies and there is a can of paint accessible. It was also observed that thorny bushes are growing through the fencing and are accessible to children which could be dangerous.

The licensee keeps a current record for each child showing the information required. [CCLR Sec. 57]

Observation. LO conducted a sampling of children's files and noted some of the files were missing the following - Immunization status, medical insurance number, medical practitioner.
