    All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the following on the outdoor play space: 1) Mushrooms at the bottom of the stairs by the slide. 2) A wood picnic table close to the fence that could pose a foothold for a child to climb over the fence. 3) Low sand levels in the sand box. Some of the climber wood logs are aging and showing signs of rot. It is recommended to monitor for further wear and tear and target for future replacement. The Manager has flagged this on the monthly playground inspection checklists.

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Area rugs with curled up corners that posed a tripping hazard. - Two wide open doors leading to other rooms and areas in the church basement. These areas are not part of the licensed space. A discussion was held with the Manager to keep these doors closed or provide gates.

    Observation. One staff did not have a valid criminal record clearance letter in the name of Stepping Stone Preschool. They had a criminal record clearance letter obtained by another party. It is the responsibility of the Licensee, in this case Stepping Stone Preschool to obtain a criminal record clearance letter for their staff.
