The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction. They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]
Observation. The facility is clean and organized. But, LO observed some areas that require addressing - mats are wearing and show areas that are unable to be cleaned, some of the furniture / shelving has duct tape on edges and corners. Duct tape is a good temporary solution but leaves reside and wears in a way that is unable to be sanitized. There are also areas in the back room and kitchen where excess items are stored, it is recommended that these piles/storage be removed to allow for ease of cleaning and to ensure children do not have access to items that may not be appropriate.

Implementation of the fire drill system is practiced at least once each month, and implementation of the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)(c)]
Observation. This was previously observed, fire drills are not practiced monthly. As discussed, fire drills must be practiced every month with one emergency drill conducted once a year.

Observation. Several toy cabinets were not secured to the wall and could fall over during an earthquake. Window ledges and baseboards were dirty and require cleaning. It is recommended to pull up the blinds so children have an unobstructed view to outside.

Observation. Licensing observed loose blind cords accessible to children in care that posed a choking hazard.

Observation. Licensing observed that the space between the fence and the garage had not been securely closed off. A loose piece of lattice held up by a drawer was used to block the opening.

Observation. 1) No children had been signed in for the day of the inspection, 5 children were observed in care. Licensing officer reviewed the January sign in and out records and observed that out of 8 children present, 2 or 3 children were not signed out each day.
