    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. There are areas within the facility and the outdoor space that require addressing - latches on gates, wear and tear at corners/gates/walls, and missing / broken glass section of deck. This has been temporary replaced with plywood, but is only a short term solution and must be addressed. There are also some materials within the facility that were discussed as requiring updating such as carpet curling which could be a tripping hazard.

    The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

    Observation. There are some gates that have faulty / broken latches. While staff have used duct tape as a temporary fix, they will require repair or replacement.

    Implementation of the fire drill system is practiced at least once each month, and implementation of the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)(c)]

    Observation. Fire drills were completed throughout the year (with the exception of Oct / Nov), with emergency drills (completed Oct / Nov) following the school schedule. Discussion with Manager, to clarify that Fire drills to be completed every month, with minimum of one emergency drill conducted yearly.

    Observation. Licensing observed a rain barrel placed against the perimeter fence. The rain barrel was approximately 4 foot high and compromised the height of the 8' perimeter fence as a child could get on top of the rain barrel and attempt to climb the perimeter fence.

    Emergency exits and fire drill system are approved by a local Fire Marshal. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(a)]

    Observation. The fire extinguisher tags indicated they were due for servicing on June 1, 2024.

    Observation. Licensing observed minimal emergency food and water supplies that appeared insufficient for 69 children.

    Prior to employing staff the manager has met with each person and has obtained the appropriate documentation. [CCLR Sec. 19(1)]

    Observation. One staff was missing a valid criminal record check. Two staff were missing documentation of immunization status.
