Observation. Paint on the swing set/slide has started to peel and there are some areas where the wood is quite rough and in need of some smoothing.
Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before July 24, 2024

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed the following that are accessible to children in care: - Three cleaning solution spray bottles on a lower shelf by the entrance door. The Staff moved it out of children's reach. - Diaper rash cream in an unlocked bathroom drawer.
Corrective action. Ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed that the diaper change mat has a couple of rips and is worn out.
Corrective action. Ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair.

Observation. Upon a review of two staff records, Licensing observed that character references for one staff were not obtained. Licensing provided education on what would meet the intent of this regulation.
Corrective action. Ensure that staff records are complete.

Observation. Licensing observed: - some chipping paint throughout the facility. - Some wear and tear on facility gates. - a small hole in a table in the main room.
Corrective action. Ensure that the furniture, equipment and fixtures within the community care facility are in good repair.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that each piece of furniture or equipment for sleeping (c) is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing was informed by the Manager that a child sleeps in a bouncy chair that was observed in the nap area. Licensing provided education on ensuring that safe and both age and developmentally appropriate furniture and equipment for sleeping is provided. The Manager informed Licensing that they will no longer let the child sleep in the bouncy chair.
Corrective action. Please ensure that each piece of furniture or equipment for sleeping is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it.
11120 - CCLR s.15(2)(c) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon arrival the Manager asked the staff to remove a damp medium sized towel that was hanging on the bathroom towel rack. Upon discussion with the Manager, Licensing observed that this towel is used to clean the bathroom floors. Licensing provided education that towels used for cleaning should not be hanging on the bathroom towel rack as children could potentially use it to clean their hands or face. Health and hygiene practices were reviewed. The Manager removed the towel.
Corrective action. Please ensure that a program to instruct children in and to practice the rules of, health and hygiene.
