    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. In the outdoor play space the fence on the south side of the yard is in disrepair and wobbles when touched.

    Corrective action. The Licensee will come up with a plan to repair or replace the fence on the south side of the yard and provide the plan to Licensing.

    Observation. Licensing observed that one child who requires an Epi pen does not have a care plan.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -Debris throughout the outdoor play space some of which has the potential to pose a choking hazard. -The anti slip strips on the facility stair case were puckering and in some cases peeling off, creating a tripping hazard. -Some debris observed on the walkway from the indoor space to outdoor play space.

    Corrective action. Ensure the facility is clean and in good repair at all times.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -A plastic shopping which is meant to hold dress up clothes accessible to children in care. Plastic bags can pose a suffocation hazard. -A tall heater was being used - the surface of the heater was extremely hot to touch and accessible to children in care. A discussion was had with the Licensee about ways to heat up the children's space while maintaining safety.

    Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

  • MEDICATION

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

    Observation. Licensing observed that one child's medication consent form related to their care plan did not specify all medications required carry out care plan. Furthermore, Licensing observed that a medicated cream had been recorded as having been administered as part of child's care plan without clear written consent from parent. A clarifying conversation with the Licensee indicated that the child required one of 2 medications at onset of symptoms and that the second medication will be added to the child's permission to administer medication form.

    Corrective action. Ensure care plans are complete and medications are administered to children in the amount and times specified by the parent.
