A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. In the designated outdoor play space (which is a fenced off area in the backyard) there are broken toys and scattered garbage; including empty pop cans. There is also construction materials, garbage, etc. scattered throughout the yard which leads to the designated fenced area.
Corrective action. The Licensee confirmed that the designated outdoor play area will be cleaned prior to children using the space and the route to the designated play area will be cleaned by the end of the week.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - STAFFING
The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation. A criminal record check for a person over the age of 12 who is ordinarily present is not available.
Corrective action. The Licensee confirmed that she is in the process of obtaining criminal record checks for all individuals on site.

Observation. Although the facility provides transportation to children, a transportation policy has not yet been created.
Corrective action. The Licensee will create a transportation policy within one week. Licensing provided the Licensee with a resource.
