A licensee must do all of the following: (d) appoint a manager for the community care facility.
Observation. Manager for the facility left in September. A new Manager has not yet been appointed for the facility. Licensee indicated that they had forgotten appoint a new Manager.
Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address this contravention on or before December 13, 2024

Observation. One staff has an expired criminal record check and two staff do not have criminal records that are site specific. Staff stated that Licensee had indicated that they were having problems with their CRC ID and have been working at fixing this issue.

Observation. In the outdoor play space there is a shed accessible to the children in care. The metal baseboard sheets surrounding the outdoor shed are in disrepair; there are holes and pieces breaking away.
Corrective action. Ensure to replace or board up the broken pieces of the outdoor shed baseboards.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play space: -The shed door is missing the door knob, making it accessible to children. -There is hole in the baseboard under the shed door. A clarifying conversation with the Manager indicated that they had previously covered the hole with wood chips, however, the hole is uncovered again. Licensing and Manager problem solved other way of covering the hole.
Corrective action. Ensure the facility is in good repair.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed a large amount of cleaning/disinfecting supplies in an unlocked cupboard right outside the children's washroom, accessible to children in care.
Corrective action. Ensure children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to their health and safety.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed that the baseboards surrounding a shed in the outdoor play space is in need of repair. One area of the baseboard has a large hole accessible to children in care.
Corrective action. Ensure fixtures in the CCF are in good repair. Ensure that the hole observed under the shed door is made inaccessible to children in care.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. Licensing observed that one of the staff members did not have their certificate posted.
Corrective action. Ensure staff certificates are displayed in a prominent place in the CCF.
10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. Upon an inspection of three care plans, Licensing noted that one care plan was not dated.
Corrective action. Ensure care plans are dated for the purpose of annual review.

Observation. Upon an inspection of two staff files, Licensing noted that one staff member's CRC was not site specific.
Corrective action. Ensure that site specific CRCs are obtained before the start of employment.
