  A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (a) to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness if the parent cannot immediately be reached.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed four children's files. Three of the four did not include consent to call for emergency care in the event the parent cannot be reached.

  Corrective action. The Manager stated that the children's files would be reviewed and missing information would be obtained.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. The fencing in the outdoor play space is beginning to rot in multiple areas causing boards to become loose/unsecured. The fencing on the west side of the yard is the most notably in disrepair. On this side the entire fence structure wobbles when touched.

  Corrective action. Ensure the outdoor space is in good repair.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. Licensing observed that one staff member's ece certificate was not verified.

  Corrective action. Ensure staff certificates are verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Licensing observed that one staff member's file did not contain evidence of immunization status declaration.

  Corrective action. Ensure staff file are complete,

  Observation. Licensing observed that the Manager's file did not contain a Criminal Record Check.

  Corrective action. Ensure that staff files are complete.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. At the time of inspection Licensing observed: -A build up of ice on the facility sidewalk and driveway due to snowfall 4 days prior. -An inappropriate mixture of soap, water and bleach is being used as the main disinfectant at the facility.

  Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (k) the date on which the child stops attending the community care facility.

  Observation. Upon inspection of 4 children's files, licensing noted that one file was missing an end of enrollment date.

  Corrective action. Ensure that for each child a record is kept indicating the date on which the child stops attending.

  Observation. At the time of inspection, Licensing noted that one child was not signed in.

  Corrective action. Ensure that a record is kept for each child indicating each day whether the child is absent, of if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Licensing noted that one child in care did not have any of the required information/record.

  Corrective action. Ensure that children's records are obtained prior to children attending.

  Observation. There is currently no manager appointed at the facility. At the routine inspection, Licensee informed Licensing that the manager is on leave. Licensing had provided education on requirements of absent employees.

  Corrective action. Ensure a manager is appointed.

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: -Wear and tear on the wails throughout the facility. -a piece of equipment which is covered with vinyl is in a state of disrepair.

  Corrective action. Ensure the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair.

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: -A tall shelf, holding a TV in the main play room is not secured causing it to be a tipping hazard. -The soap dispenser in the children's bathroom is requires some maintenance. -The procedure to clean and disinfect children's diaper change mat is insufficient. -Temperature sensitive food is stored inappropriately. -A bucket of dirty rain water in the outdoor play space. -A stroller blocking the path that has been identified as an emergency exit. The second emergency exit is locked and is blocked by toys and equipment.

  Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

  Observation. Licensing observed a medicated cream in a cupboard which was accessible to children in care.

  Corrective action. Ensure children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to their health and safety.

  Observation. Licensing observed that the manager's name was not posted at the facility.

  Corrective action. Ensure the manager's name is displayed at the facility.

  Observation. Licensing observed that one educator's certificate was not displayed.

  Corrective action. Ensure that staff certificates are displayed in a prominent place in the community care facility.
