• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Some walls have dirt and chipped paint.

  Corrective action. The manager will follow-up with the facility's maintenance.

• LICENSING

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.

  Observation. One of the employee's ECEA certificate was not displayed.

  Corrective action. The manager said she will post a copy of the certificate.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. There are several months missing in the fire drill record.

  Corrective action. The manager will update the record.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (f) any medication administered to the child, including the amount and the time at which the medication was administered.

  Observation. Several children's records include information on medical treatment needed but they do not have the medication in the facility or any other instructions or care plans

  Corrective action. The manager will review the children's records and have a conversation with parents to create care plans for children who need it.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. The care plan was not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.

  Corrective action. The manager will update the care plan with the parent.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).

  Observation. One child in care has no complete records in the facility.

  Corrective action. The manager will follow-up with the parent to get the child's information.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. One of the employee's ECEA certificate was not verified.

  Corrective action. The manager said she will verify it and keep a record of it.

  12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a)

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. The are multiple care plans that have not been reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.

  Corrective action. The facility has a plan to review these plans shortly and will provide Licensing with an update.
