  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. -Some chipping paint and wear and tear noted on facility walls. -The fence in the 30 months to school age outdoor play space requires attention as it is not sturdy to touch. -One area of the 30 months to school age program is enclosed with a fence like structure which is climbable. -There are some fixtures in the 30 months to school age program which have chipping paint - accessible to children in care. -One portion of the fence in the under 36 month play ground is not sturdy to touch.

    Corrective action. Please provide Licensing with a written plan on how the deficiencies in the outdoor play space will be addressed on or before the date noted in the inspection report.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. A building fence adjacent to the under 36 months playground fence is damaged due to a vehicle driving into it. Although the vehicle did not enter the outdoor play space and cause any damage, the security of an additional fence on the property can no longer be relied upon to keep vehicles from entering the under 36 months playground.

    Corrective action. Please provide Licensing with a plan on or before July 22, 2024 on how the facility will the address safety concerns.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

    Observation. One child's care plan does not reflect the course of action adequately as the child has two different medications.

    Corrective action. Ensure clear courses of action to address the needs of the child are reflected in care plans.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

    Observation. A play boat structure on the outdoor play area has a broken steering wheel that could pose a risk to the children playing in the area. Broken window shutters from the Infant Toddler outdoor play house are stored on the top of the house which could pose a risk to the children playing in the area. One classroom has a broken blind cord clip and missing a ceiling tile. LO discussed these items with the Licensee and manager during the inspection.

    Corrective action. Ensure indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment are in good repair, safely constructed and free from hazards.

    Observation. Four staff working in the programs during the inspection were confirmed to be qualified educators however their certificates were not posted in a prominent place within the facility. LO discussed the intent of this practice with the Licensee and Manager during the inspection.

    Corrective action. Ensure all qualified educators have their certificates posted in a prominent place in the facility.
