• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. One of the playrooms is showing signs of chipping paint on the walls.

  Corrective action. Please ensure facility is in good repair and walls are smooth to ensure proper cleaning.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. There is no emergency practise drill documented for the last year.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that an emergency drill is practised to ensure that staff are familiar what to do to respond in the event of a real emergency.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. There are days on the attendance sheet where arrival and departure times are not noted.

  Corrective action. Please ensure attendance shows arrival and departure times for every day for each child.

  A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

  Observation. The staff's first aid has expired.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that children have access to someone at all times that has a valid first aid certificate.
