- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. During this inspection, Licensing has observed the cubbies in the nap room are not secured and there are broken dirty toys in the outdoor space.
Corrective action. Manager and staff said that they will be disposing broken toys and securing cubbies to the wall.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. The fire extinguisher has not been serviced since November 2024.
Corrective action. The manager said that she will double check the fire extinguisher servicing.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Upon review of eigh children's files, one was missing a record of their immunization status.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all the children's files are complete.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Upon review of eight children's files, one was missing an emergency contact and three were missing the medical practitioner's information.
Corrective action. Please ensure that children's records are complete.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.
Observation. Upon review of employee files and staff schedules, one staff has an expired first aid certification and do not have immediate access to another employee with a valid first aid and CPR certificate. Licensing discussed this thoroughly with the Manager.
Corrective action. Please ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee with a valid first aid and CPR certificate.

- HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. When the children wake up from naptime numerous children change their diapers independently in the nap area. The children are then expected to find a garbage can to dispose of their diapers and wash their hands in the washroom which is a different area of the licensed space. Licensing had a conversation with the staff member on site to discuss the importance of diapering practices being conducted in the washroom for health and hygiene purposes.
Corrective action. The staff/manager will need to implement a new system for diapering following nap time and inform licensing of the new system by the end of the week.

Observation. Upon inspection of 3 staff files, Licensing noted that one did not contain evidence of certificate validation.
Corrective action. Ensure all staff files are complete.
