A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. There is one tall cabinet that is not secured in one of the classrooms which may pose as a tipping hazard.
Corrective action. The manager will send a corrective plan.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): There was a cleaning bottle accessible to children stored in the cupboard under the bathroom sink.
Corrective action. The bottle was removed and stored somewhere inaccessible to children during the inspection.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation. The hot water accessible to children measured over 49° Celsius
Corrective action. The manager will send a corrective action plan.
11230 - CCLR s.47 - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Upon review of several children's records, one was missing the medical insurance plan number.
Corrective action. The manager will update the records..
19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Upon review of several children's records, two were missing the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner.
Corrective action. The manager will update the records.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. One care plan was not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.
Corrective action. The manager will send a corrective action plan.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills.
Observation. Copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills were not available for review for two staff members.
Corrective action. The manager will update the records.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one employee.
Corrective action. The manager will update the records.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation. Although the facility has been regularly practicing emergency drills, they have not followed their emergency plan which includes evacuating the group to a safe location and bringing the emergency supplies with them. Licensing had a thorough discussion about their emergency plan.
Corrective action. The manager will send a corrective action plan.

Observation. Licensing reviewed three staff files. Reference checks have not been obtained for two of these staff.
Corrective action. The Manager stated that she will follow up with these staff this week and obtain the missing information.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Licensing reviewed three staff files. One of the staff did not have a valid Criminal Record Check and one did not have a site specific Criminal Record Check.
Corrective action. The Manager stated that she will complete the process immediately to ensure all staff have valid Criminal Record Checks.
