A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. A paver in the outdoor play space is cracked and the sharp edges stick up.

Corrective action. Ensure to maintain a safe outdoor space.

Observation. The children bedding was hung in the closet in a manner that it was touching and posing a risk of cross contamination. This is a repeat contravention.

Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided to all children in care.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. One staff file did not have the current license to practice validated

Corrective action. The Manager will validate the certificate

Observation. - There is one gutter spout that is cracked at the bottom - A closet door was off the hinge in one of the bedrooms

Observation. 2 nap mats have corners that are starting to rip

Corrective action. Ensure furniture used by children is in good repair and can be sanitized effectively

Observation. The following was observed: - the paint and drywall is chipping on the walls in areas throughout the facility; this was coded at the last routine inspection as well. - the transition piece from the floor to the carpet at the end of the hallway poses a tripping hazard as it is lifting and the tape that is applied is no longer holding it down - there were 4 nap mats that are ripped on the corners leaving them unable to be sanitized effectively

Corrective action. Ensure the facility is safe and in good repair at all times.

A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

Observation. There was only 1 staff on site at the time of the inspection and their first aid certificate is expired

Corrective action. Ensure children have immediate access to a staff that holds a valid first aid/CPR certificate

A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

Observation. A fence panel is missing from the outdoor play area

Corrective action. Ensure the facility is in good repair and the outdoor play space is enclosed for the safety of the children
