- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. There is a plastic hanger that is being used as extension on the washroom tap for children to reach the tap and to turn the water on/off. It has grime on it that needs to be cleaned. The tap handle need to be sanitized regularly.
Corrective action. Please ensure that facility is clean and in good repair while children are in care.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - STAFFING
The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation. A criminal record check for two individuals over the age of 12 who is ordinarily present is not available.
Corrective action. Licensee will obtain the crc for facility records.

A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.
Observation. Two bricks were being used to add height and weight to a stepstool in the washroom, bricks are made of a non-porous material and are not easy to clean. This is a repeat contravention.
Corrective action. Please ensure that furniture is easy to clean.
11080 - CCLR s.15(1)(a) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Bleach and water spray solution was stored on the bathroom counter, accessible to the children in care. When noted to Licensee, it was removed to a safer location.
Corrective action. Please ensure hazardous substances are not accessible to the children in care.

Observation. Emergency drill has not yet been carried out at the facility. Discussion had with the Licensee about ensuring that an emergency drill is carried out yearly. Practicing going to their alternate emergency location.
Corrective action. Please ensure that yearly emergency drills are carried out and documented in order to confirm compliance.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.
Observation. -Within the washroom there was a large piece of cardboard being used for privacy between the toilet and sink. Discussion with Manager around cardboard not being an easy to clean material . -Two bricks were being used to add height and weigh down a stepstool, discussion had around the bricks being made of a porous material and is not easy to clean.
Corrective action. Please ensure that furniture is easy to clean.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. One staff of the facility did not have their Certificate posted for the public to see.
Corrective action. Please ensure that staff Certificates are posted.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Facility has not logged any fire drills practiced.
Corrective action. In order to confirm compliance, please log fire drills when carried out monthly and emergency drills yearly.

A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation. There is a child enrolled who requires a care plan. No care plan which depicts the course of action has been created with the parent. Discussion had with the Manager in regard to what should be included within the plan. Please ensure care plan is created with the parent and reviewed yearly.
Corrective action. Please ensure a complete care plan is provided for any child who requires one.
19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. Two staff who work at the facility have not had their ECE Certificates verified through the ECE Registry.
Corrective action. Please ensure that staff who carry Certificates have them verified through the ECE Registry and proof of verification is provided within their file.
