- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. There were a pair of adult scissors and one knife accessible to children in the kitchen drawer.
Corrective action. It was corrected during inspection
11200 - CCLR s.17 - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (b) a wash basin.
Observation. Diaper change area is located in the nap room. There is no hand washing next to change table. This contravention was noted at last inspection.
Corrective action. Please ensure that diaper change area in located next to hand washing station.
15015 - CCLR s.14(4)(b) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. During diaper change procedure, the staff did not wash hands and used same gloves for changing three children's diapers.
Corrective action. Please ensure to practice rules of health and hygiene at all times.
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - OR SUPERVISION
A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult.
Observation. There was an ECE practicum student present on site with ECEA qualified staff during inspection. Licensing observed that children were left in the supervision of practicum student while ECEA staff was outside preparing outdoor play area for over 10 minutes.
Corrective action. Please ensure that supervision is maintained by qualified staff at all times.
14060 - CCLR s.39(1) - STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.
Observation. Staff that was working at the time of today's inspection could not explain the emergency procedure to evacuate safety in the event of emergency.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff are trained and knowledgeable about emergency plan and procedure.

A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (b) a wash basin.
Observation. As discussed at the time of initial inspection, diaper change station is not next to hand washing station. It is set up in the nap room close to the washroom.
Corrective action. Please ensure diaper change station is next to hand washing sink.

A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. Sleep mats placed with no gap that is posing risk of cross contamination of germs.
Corrective action. Please ensure to practice rules of health and hygiene.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Licensee said that they talk to children about fire drill but it was never practiced.
Corrective action. Please practice fire drill monthly and annual emergency drill and then document it.

Observation. There were 6 children in attendance today but none of them were signed in. Additionally, children were not signed out on September 19, 2024
Corrective action. Please attendance records are up to date and accurate with arrival and departure time.
