    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. The following were observed during inspection: -Green table in the play room is visibly dirty with dark spots on it -Walls are dirty and paint coming off. It appears that children are peeling off the walls - There are areas covered with clear tape. The tape is dirty and posing risk off germs contamination - Broken bikes in the outdoor play area ( repeated contravention) - Chairs and tables in the outdoor area have grime and dirt on it - There are holes and missing patches of grass in the playground.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that facility is clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. It was observed in the outdoor space that there were some rusty, dirty, and broken toys, bikes, and play structures.

    Corrective action. The licensee will clean the toys and discard broken ones.

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): There is a diaper mat that was covered with plastic that was torn and taped in several parts which makes it ineffective to clean and sanitize.

    Corrective action. The Licensee removed the plastic cover during the inspection. The diaper changing mat inside the cover is in good shape.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. -In the outdoor play space the exit gate and adjacent fence panel on the east side are rotten and falling over. Also in the outdoor play space the fence panels that run along the west side of the yard are beginning to rot and become insecure. -Along the walkway to the outdoor play space there are rotten wooden boxes tossed aside with nails exposed. -In the nap room the blind cords are hanging low and accessible to the children in care.

    Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing conducted a walk through of the indoor and outdoor spaces and observed the following: -Just outside the front door, where children enter and exit the facility at arrival and departure, and to enter and exit for outdoor play, there was a table with gardening supplies on it. This pile of tools also contained a large knife. The knife was accessible. -There is a cord running across the hallway upstairs between the nap room and the staircase. The cord is a potential tripping hazard. The Licensee and Licensing Officer discussed possible options to ensure the cord is secure. -The outdoor fence on the west side of the backyard is beginning to rot. Numerous boards are breaking away from the main parallel boards creating gaps and unsteady fencing. -In the main play room there is paint chipping exposing drywall; primarily around the two pillars in this space.

    Corrective action. Ensure to provide a healthy and safe environment both indoors and outdoors at all times.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. The fence on the east side of the outdoor play space has begun to rot. There are boards unattached, boards falling out, the paint on almost every board is peeling and there are nails exposed. There is a second fence behind this fence that appears to be in good condition. A conversation took place with the Licensee regarding either removing the rotting fence and ensuring the second fence is adequate or replacing this fence if there is a need for two fences.

    Corrective action. Ensure that facility is in good repair at all times.
