    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. Licensing observed that the emergency kits had food/water that expired over a year ago. The staff said they will let the manager know to replace all the kits.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the emergency kits are equipped with non-expired food/water.

  • POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

    Observation. Licensing observed that Nov/Dec 2024 fire drills are not recorded for the School Age program. For all programs, the emergency drill was not recorded. The staff said they practice when the school does their drills but forgot to record them.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the fire and emergency drills are being recorded for each program.

    Observation. There is no documentation of fire drills practised in the School Age program for the months of October, November, December of 2023 and January 2024.

    Corrective action. The Manager explained that the school age staff do practise drills but did not document them on the chart. The children also do practise fire drills with the school while they are in class.

    Observation. The fire extinguisher in the classroom required servicing on or before October 4, 2020.

    Corrective action. Please ensure the fire extinguisher is serviced yearly to ensure it is in working order.

    Observation. One staff holds an Early Childhood Educator Assistant certificate but it has not been verified on the ECE Registry website.
