- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A child's medication kit in their backpack and accessible to children in care.
Corrective action. The Manager placed the child's backpack in a higher cupboard out of children's reach.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. Upon a review of a child's care plan, Licensing observed that the care plan was not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent. The Manager said that the plan was reviewed by the parent however, there was no evidence of it.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. Upon a review of the attendance records for the month of July 2025, Licensing observed that children are not identified as absent. Licensing reviewed this section of the regulation and provided education on how to accurately complete the attendance records.
Corrective action. The Manager will ensure that attendance records are completed accurately on a daily basis.
19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. Upon a review of a staff file, Licensing observed that only one reference was obtained for the staff. Licensing provided clarification on what would meet the intent of this regulation.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

- HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. The Manager informed Licensing that children's wipes are used to clean and sanitize the diaper change mat between changing each child's diaper. At the end of the day the diaper change mat is cleaned using the bleach and water solution. Licensing provided education that children's wipes does not sanitize the diaper change mat and that bleach and water solution needs to be used to sanitize the mat after each use. Licensing provided only as a suggestion to have a separate bleach and water solution bottle for the bathroom and diaper change mat.
Corrective action. Ensure that a program is established to instruct children in, and to practice the rules of health and hygiene.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation. Licensing observed that the Manager's name was not posted anywhere within the community care facility.
Corrective action. Ensure that the Licence and the name of the Manager is posted in a prominent place in the community care facility.
