- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. The outdoor play area had the following hazards present at the time of the inspection; - garbage and debris present, full garbage can - tripping hazards on the ground in several areas from loose landscape tarp paper - broken toys stored on the playground - tarp stored on the playground - several dead shrubs which are intended to damper the sound of the neighboring roadway - resilient surfacing under a dome climber not sufficient to support children using the equipment - weeds and foliage that could case injury present and at child's height The indoor programs had the following hazards accessible at the time of the inspection; - staff coffee cups accessible - cleaning rags being re-used several times a day - stools in the washrooms dirty - cabinet in washroom not locked with cleaning products stored - storage of equipment/resources stacked too high in one program - food storage in the kitchen not effective to deter rodents The LO reviewed these items with the Licensee at the time of the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure indoor and outdoor play equipment assessable is safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair at all times.
11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that each piece of furniture or equipment for sleeping (b) is clean and comfortable.
Observation. Children in the programs were observed sleeping directly on plastic mats without suitable linen covering the mats. The LO reviewed the suitability of this practices at the time of the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure equipment for sleeping is clean and comfortable.

Observation. The name of the facility manager is not posted near the Community Care Facility License within the facility.
Corrective action. Ensure the name of the manager is displayed in a prominent place in the facility.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. Not all qualified staff working in the program at the time of the inspection had their certificates posted within the facility.
Corrective action. Ensure all educators or assistants certificates must be displayed in the facility.

A licensee must (b) promote healthy eating and nutritional habits.
Observation. Lunch kits observed during the inspection had perishable food items stored in the kits without the support of ice packs resulting in potential for spoiled food to be consumed by the children in care.
Corrective action. Ensure healthy eating and nutritional habits are promoted.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Fire extinguishers in the facility were observed to be expired.
Corrective action. Ensure the facility is able to prepare, mitigate and respond to an emergency.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (g) any notification of a parent, emergency contact or medical health officer made under section 55 [notification of illness or injury].
Observation. Six children's files were reviewed and several children did not have evidence of emergency consent available.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete including emergency consent.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Six children's files were reviewed and several were missing Dr's name and contact details.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete including Dr's name and contact details.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The facility uses an app to record attendance. At the time of the inspection children were not accurately recorded on the app or in the correct classrooms. The LO reviewed the movement of children throughout the facility at the time of the inspection as an additional safety concern related to accurate attendance.
Corrective action. Ensure accurate attendance is maintained including absence, location, and the time of arrival and departure.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation. Six children's files were reviewed and several were missing enrollment dates on the files.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete including enrollment dates.

Observation. Six children's files were reviewed and several files did not have evidence of MSP# or Immunization Status.

Observation. Some log books in the facility are not being used on a regular basis.
Corrective action. Ensure a long of minor incidents are used on a regular basis by all programs.

Observation. Two staff working on the day of the inspection did not have CRC's available for review.
Corrective action. Ensure all staff have complete files which included valid Criminal Record Check results.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. The outdoor play area had the following hazards present at the time of the inspection; - small shrub with sharp foliage accessible to the children - irrigation system pipe near the entrance posing a tripping hazard - prickle bush creeping over the fence and accessible to the children - several hedges removed and not replaced causing noise and communication concerns LO reviewed these items with the manager a the time of the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all time.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. During the inspection the following items were observed for potential hazards to the children in care; - outdoor play area was not inspected for safety prior to the children using the space on the day of the inspection - the gate of the playground is typically locked when the children are using the space which could impede emergency evacuation - the lock on the outdoor shed is damaged which results in the children not able to use the toys and equipment stored within the shed - some debris observed in the outdoor play area - garbage cans inside the facility in several rooms do not appear to be emptied regularly - nap time mats had evidence of not being cleaned from the previous days use - the kitchen light was not operational posing a challenge for food preparation in the space - the kitchen fridge did not have a thermometer stored in it where the facility snack items are stored LO reviewed all of these items with the Licensee at the time of the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

Observation. The facility license was posted at the facility entrance however the name of the manager was not posted as per outlined in the regulations.
Corrective action. Ensure the name of the manager is posted in a prominent place in the facility.
