    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. -A tall, heavy play station is not anchored in anyway to mitigate risk of tipping. -A sleeping child had a feeding bottle in their mouth.

    Corrective action. Discussed the intent of safe practices for bottle feeding.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. -Chipping paint accessible to children throughout the facility. -The diaper change mat is cracked along it's side, exposing foam, which can not be sanitized.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): At the time of Licensing arrival, two of the eight children in attendance were not recorded as present.

    A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

    Observation. -One child with history of a condition did not have a care plan in place. -One care plan with a course of action did not have accompanying medication on site.

    Observation. Of the three staff files inspected, one did not contain immunization records.

    Corrective action. The licensee contact said she will obtain certificate validations.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The facility has run out of washroom supplies, including both toilet paper and paper towel. The staff member has placed a box of tissues in the washroom for children to use for all washroom practices. The staff member stated she has requested additional supplies from the facility Manager. The facility is visibly dirty (ie. floors, walls, counter tops, etc) and requires a throughout clean. Licensing discussed the importance of regular, ongoing cleaning moving forward.

    Corrective action. The staff member on site will follow up with the facility Manager to ensure sufficient health and safety systems are implemented.

    Observation. No care plan has been created for a child with medication on site.
