  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. A blind cord was observed accessible to the children in care at the time of the inspection posing a potential hazard. The fall zone and resilient surfacing surrounding a slide on the outdoor play area was observed to not be effective for children using the equipment and a potential hazard. These items were reviewed in depth at the time of the inspection.

    Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

    Observation. A child who might require medication did not have a consent form in place. The details of use of the medication too was not available at the time of the inspection. This item was reviewed in depth at the time of the inspection.

    Corrective action. Ensure medication provided by the parent has a consent in place along with the details of the medication amount and times to be used.
