  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

  Observation. Of the 8 children's files inspected, four did not contain enrollment dates.

  Corrective action. Ensure children's records are complete.

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Licensing observed some chipping paint on a wall in DC2, caused by wear and tear.

  Corrective action. Ensure the facility is in good repair.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): At the time of Licensing's arrival, a daily attendance record had not been taken in one of the classrooms. A manager corrected this during the inspection.

• HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

  A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

  Observation. Licensing observed that school age children did not wash hands before eating their snacks. Children were walking with food in their hands.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that rules of health and hygiene are instructed and practiced in the program at all times.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. Licensing observed a pair of scissors accessible to children in both preschool classrooms. One classroom contained adult hammer and screw driver in the drawer that was accessible to children.

  Corrective action. Ensure children do not have access to anything that may be hazardous to the health and safety of children in care.

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. Licensing observed that there was a care plan in pace for two children requiring extra support. However, there was no evidence (date) of when the care plans were created and when were last reviewed. Licensing provided education that care plans need to be reviewed at least once each year.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that care plan is reviewed at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support.
