• HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

  A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

  Observation. The children transitioned from free play to snack this afternoon without washing their hands.

  Corrective action. The Manager stated that typically children wash their hands prior to eating and will ensure that handwashing takes place prior to eating at all times moving forward.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that one child who was in attendance did not have a recorded time of arrival.

  Corrective action. Ensure that an accurate attendance record is maintained at all times.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,

  Observation. Licensing observed that manager's certificate did not have evidence of validation.

  Corrective action. Ensure employee certificates are verified by the using a systems established and maintained by the director of the early childhood registry.
