Observation. The temperature of the fridge where children's food is stored was above the recommended 4 degrees Celsius. Safe food storage is part of a healthy and safe environment. A system for monitoring and adjusting food storage temperature is required. Daily outdoor play space inspections have not been conducted since the program does not have a designated outdoor space. The areas that children are walking and playing in must be inspected for the presence of potentially harmful items before children access the areas. Inform Licensing how outdoor spaces will be inspected prior to their use by children. A record of the inspections must be kept.

Observation. Some children's records were missing the name and phone number of an emergency contact. An emergency contact is defined in the Child Care Licensing Regulation as a person who is to be contacted in place of a parent if a parent cannot be reached. Inform Licensing how the facility will ensure that all children's records contain an emergency contact.

Observation. One employee file was missing immunization status information, and an indication that references had been checked. This information is required under section 19 of the Child Care Licensing Regulation and must be made available during a licensing inspection. Inform Licensing how employee files will be maintained to include all required information.

Observation. The facility has no record that each employee has practiced implementing the emergency plan. Emergency plans are required to be practiced and recorded annually in order to ensure that all employees are familiar with the procedures of the plan. Inform Licensing how the plans will be practiced and recorded.

Observation. At the time of the inspection qualified employees were not in place to supervise the children in care.

Observation. Evidence that employees practice implementing the fire drill system once a month could not be produced for review by Licensing.

Observation. Several children's files were missing medical insurance plan number. A licensee must have in writing from a parent consent to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness if the parent cannot immediately be reached. A review of the registration forms indicated no signatures from parents. Several departure times were not recorded on the daily attendance.

Observation. One employee file is missing evidence of responsible adult training. Copies of transcripts or workshop certificates are required.

Observation. An inspection of a random sampling of employee files found one staff file to contain a police Criminal Record Check (CRC). A CRC from the Criminal Record Review Program (CRRP) is required for all employees. Each employee must provide a statement of their immunization status, which must be kept in the same location as all required employee information.

Observation. An inspection of a random sampling of children's files found that several children's files were missing an emergency contact person. The name and phone number of a person (other than the parent) is required. The date on which a child stops attending the facility is also required.
