• PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / Play Area, Materials and EquipmentNon-critical

  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. The outdoor area has a few items that could be harmful to children - folded tables, rug, cleaning supplies. Manager stated that they will remove these as well as reduce the number of riding and push toys. due to the number of these items (push toys), they are piled up and not in good condition.

  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. The outdoor space is clean and suitable for children, but there are some items that are in the garden (accessible to children) that could be hazardous or harmful - table, wet cloth and towels on the ground, etc. There is also an area of the fence that is not fully enclosed, and children can access items that are either broken or removed from their play area for other reasons.

  All persons over the age of 12 that are ordinarily present on the premises while children are present are of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for each person. [CCLR Sec 20]

  Observation. LO observed that a criminal record check has been obtained for all staff. However 1 of the CRC's is not addressed to the facility, and therefore as per Criminal Records Review Program, not valid.

  A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

  Observation. In the activity space, LO observed two unsecured shelving units over 3 feet tall in height. Discussion took place with manager with regards to the potential risk of harm if the shelving units were to fall on a child.

  The licensee keeps a current record for each child showing the information required. [CCLR Sec. 57]

  Observation. LO observed that an emergency contact is listed for 1 child however the contact number is not provided. Discussion took place with manager with regards to the emergency contact number being available in the event of an emergency.

  Prior to employing staff the manager has met with each person and has obtained the appropriate documentation. [CCLR Sec. 19(1)]

  Observation. LO observed that a criminal record check has been obtained for 1 staff however it is not addressed to the facility.
