  Observation. Licensing Officer observed the following: -Items are being stored in the nap rooms, including two cribs not currently in use. Additionally, mattresses are placed on top of the shelving unit that contains children’s bedding, directly above the children’s sleeping cots. This creates a potential safety hazard due to improper storage and risk of falling items. -In the children’s washroom, a broom and dustpan, as well as a toilet bowl cleaning brush, are stored next to the toilet and are accessible to children. This presents a health and safety concern, as cleaning tools and equipment should be kept out of children’s reach.

  Observation. In the outdoor play space, Licensing Officer observed the following: -Overgrown grass and weeds throughout the play yard, including in and around the rubber tires -Debris and dried leaves scattered across the grassy areas and within the children’s sandbox -Two sandboxes contained an inadequate amount of sand to appropriately support children’s play activities

  Observation. Licensing Officer reviewed a sampling of the children's records. LO observed that medical practitioner information is not kept for 1 child.

  Observation. Licensing Officer reviewed a sampling of staff files and observed that a character reference has not been obtained for 1 staff.

  Observation. LO observed that several children's files did not contain an emergency contact.

  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. LO observed the following: • a potty seat left on a small toilet in the shared infant/toddler washroom. The seat appeared to be soiled or stained. If using a potty seat it must be cleaned and sanitized between uses. • the shared washroom walls are visibly soiled and in need of a deep clean. The washroom counter has a missing strip of laminate exposing the wood underneath. This is no longer easy to clean and in good repair. • several diaper changing pads with rips on the surface, making them difficult to clean and sanitize.

  Observation. There are areas in the facility showing signs of wear and tear, such as shelving not secure in nap room and chipped paint.

  Observation. LO observed cleaner on the shelf in one of the washrooms, and on the edge of the counter in most rooms.

  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. The outside area has a thistle bush that is taking up space in the play area and could injure children as they walk by to another playground. There is also a latch that is broken and does not remain closed.
