  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. LO observed children during outdoor play. The outdoor space is not enclosed, which means that staff must set up cones around the perimeter and reduces the ability for engaged play between staff and children. It was also observed that the resilient surfacing is wearing with large chunks missing. There are concerns around this being not only a tripping hazard, but also may expose hard surfacing under the resilient surfacing with the risk that material coming away from the ground could be hazardous if ingested by young children.

  All persons over the age of 12 that are ordinarily present on the premises while children are present are of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for each person. [CCLR Sec 20]

  Observation. LO observed a criminal record check on file for 1 staff is addressed to a Community College

  Medications that staff have agreed to administer are readily accessible to staff and are administered in the correct dosage at the correct times. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)]

  Observation. LO observed care plans for two children that require medication to be administered by a staff however the medications for the two children were not onsite. Manager stated that the medication had expired and the facility was in the process of receiving new medication for the two children.

  Observation. LO observed an incomplete asthma care plan for 2 children.

  Observation. LO observed that a medical practitioner is not kept for 1 child.

  Evidence of compliance with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs has not been obtained. [CCLR Sec.19(1)(b)]; Criminal record checks have not been obtained. [CCLR Sec. 19(1)(a)]

  Observation. LO reviewed all staff files and observed the following: -immunization status has not been obtained for 1 staff -criminal record checks have not been obtained for 2 staff

  The medications are not readily accessible to employees. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)(b)]

  Observation. LO observed that while two children had care plans requiring asthma inhalers, the inhalers were not on site.

  Observation. LO observed that the records for one child were incomplete and the records for another child were not legible. LO observed that children's records did not include the date of enrolment
