    Observation. During a Routine Follow up Inspection, Licensing was greeted at the front door by a family member. They stated the educator is upstairs and they were supervising a child in care. The child was in the backyard unsupervised. While in the background for about 10 minutes, Licensing asked again for the educator. The family member then left the child outside and went inside the house to look for the educator. Discussion took place to ensure children are supervised at all times.

    Observation. LO was unable to review attendance records as records are not being maintained. Discussion took place to ensure daily attendance records are captured.

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. While on site LO observed that in the bathroom there is a storage closet that is quite deep and holds items that could be hazardous, that was unlatched. And the fencing around the outdoor space is starting to rot in areas and come away from the frame. While it appears that there are repairs, LO continues to be concerned regarding safety of children in this space due to fences disrepair.

    Observation. Hot water exceeds 49 Celsius.

    Observation. There are no valid CRC's on site for Licensee, with the staff (family member) having an expired CRC since June 20, 2023 and no record for spouse living in home.

    Observation. There are multiple children who have allergies and epi-pens (as noted in the files). There are no care plans or information for each child.

    Employees employed as early childhood educators or assistants hold the appropriate certificates issued under Division 2, which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry [Employee Qualifications].  [CCLR Sec. 19(4)(a)]

    Observation. Licensee and staff person have their certificates posted, but there is no proof of validation.

    Observation. Licensee explained that there was a leak in the bathroom on the main floor, which is why there are three industrial floor dryers on the main level of the home. Some of the areas of concern that arose from this leak include - flooring that is warped and will need to be replaced, bathroom that requires repair so that the space is able to be used, floor boards replaced and other minor touch ups to the main level. The licensee explained that the plumber raised concerns that the leak may recur due to piping issues, therefore the work has not yet been completed as she is in process of getting quotes and trying to figure out the scope of the work that is required.
