- STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. A staff's CRC was expired. The Manager said that she applied to renew the CRC in August, however, did not receive the results yet.
Corrective action. The Manager will follow-up with the CRRP to check the status of the staff's CRC.
12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. A staff's file did not contain their references. The Manager said that this information was provided by email by the staff, however, it was not printed out and kept in their file.
Corrective action. The Manager will keep the staff's references in their file.

Observation. The Manager's name was not posted in a prominent place in the facility.
Corrective action. The Manager will post her name in a prominent place in the facility.
10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. A staff's ECEA certificate was not validated by the system maintained by the Registry. Licensing will provide the link for the Manager to obtain the validation.
Corrective action. The Manager will validate the ECEA certificate and print out the results to be kept in the file.

- STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.
Observation. During review of the Manager's file, it was found that their first aid certificate was expired in June 2021. The Manager explained that she has taken a first aid course a month ago but could not find the new certificate. The Manager will send Licensing a copy of the valid certificate.
Corrective action. Please ensure that children have immediate access to an employee who holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate.
