- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. The fridge temperature was between 5-10° C. Licensing explained that the fridge temperature must be between 0-4° C for safe food storage.
Corrective action. The Manager will adjust the fridge temperature.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. A CRC from the CRRP was not obtained for one staff, and one staff's CRC was expired. The Manager said that she has applied for the CRCs but has not received the results yet.
Corrective action. The Manager will obtain this information.
12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.
Observation. A record of the person's work history was not obtained for one staff.
Corrective action. The Manager will obtain this information and keep in the staff's file.
12060 - CCLR s.19(1)(c) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills.
Observation. A staff did not have a copy of their ECEA certificate on file. The Manager said that the staff has completed the courses, however did not receive their certificate yet.
Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.
12070 - CCLR s.19(1)(d) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one staff.
Corrective action. The Manager will keep a record of the staff's immunization status.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. A staff's CRC was expired in November 2024. The Manager said that she will obtain a current CRC for the staff.
Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. An ECE certificate was not validated by the system maintained by the ECE Registry.
Corrective action. The Manager will validate the staff's ECE certificate and keep the results in the staff's file.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A site specific CRC was not obtained for one staff. A CRC for a different organization was available in the staff's file and the Manager said that a site specific CRC was obtained, but this was not found in the file. The Manager said that this must have been misplaced and found the valid CRC.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff files are completed as required.
