    Observation. Three staff files were reviewed. Criminal record checks for all staff had not been obtained through the sharing program of the Criminal Record Review Program.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure that criminal record checks from another child care or training institution are obtained through the sharing program of the CRRP.

  • STAFFING

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

    Observation. Three staff files were reviewed. References were not available in any staff file.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure that a minimum of two character references are checked for all staff.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

    Observation. Three staff files were reviewed. Immunization status was not available for two staff.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure that immunization status is obtained for all staff.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

    Observation. Files for three staff were reviewed. Proof of ECE certificates being validated through the ECE Registry was not available in any file.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure that all ECE certificates are validated through the ECE Registry and proof of validation is available.
