- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.
Observation. Upon arrival manager informed Licensing that one of the outdoor fence panel enclosing the outdoor play area was missing since last two weeks.A contractor was contacted last week and there is a plan in place to have it repaired in the coming week. Licesning inspected the outdoor play area and observed one wooden fence panel was missing with a notcibale large gap showing the neighour's backyard. One of the other wooden fence panel had a loose wooden slat. Manager will provide Licesning a plan to have the backyard fully enclosed while children are uisng the outdoor play space. Photograph of the fence was taken.
Corrective action. Please ensure that the outdoor play space is fully enclosed to ensure children are free of harm.
11160 - CCLR s.16(3)(a) - STAFFING
The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation. A criminal record check for a person living at this address do not have valid criminal check. Manager was unaware that criminal record checks needed to be completed every five years.
Corrective action. : Please ensure all persons age 12 years and older who live at this address have a valid criminal record check.
12160 - CCLR s.20(1) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Licensing Officer reviewed manager's file and observed criminal record check had expired on 21 March 2022. Manager was unaware that criminal record checks needed to be completed every five years. Licensing provided education and contact information about the Criminal Record Review Agency. Manager stated that she will apply for the CRC today and will provide Licensing with a copy of the application.
Corrective action. Please ensure that staff have valid criminal record checks at all times.
