- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. During inspection Licensing observed the following: -Outdoor shed door had no door knob and was not fully shut making the contents of the shed which included garden fertilizers ,garden chemicals, mouse traps and gardening equipment accessible to children. Manager explained the door does not fully close due to doorframe alignment issues.This is a repeat contravention from routinue inspection # KFIH-BC8P3N dated 16 May 2019. -Gardening rake and spade were accessible to children outdoors. Manager removed these items during inspection. - In the outdoor play area staircase leading to upper deck was accessible to children. Manager corrected this during inspection.
Corrective action. A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Temperature in 3 children's lunch bags containing food measured 22.2 deg C. Manager corrected this during inspection by placing frozen ice packs in them.
Corrective action. Please ensure that temperature is kept between 0-4 degrees Celsius for safe food storage.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - OR SUPERVISION
If the child has a care plan that includes instructions respecting behavioural guidance, the licensee must ensure that (a) any behavioural guidance given to the child is consistent with those instructions. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection a child's care plan on behavioral guidance was not followed.
Corrective action. A licensee must ensure that any behavioural guidance given to the child is consistent with the instructions in the care plan.
14240 - CCLR s.51(2)(a) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. During a review of the fire drill records, it was observed that fire drill for September, 2022 was not recorded.
Corrective action. Please ensure fire drills are practiced and recorded monthly.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation. A care plan was not avavailble for one child requiring additional support.

19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must do all of the following: (a) employ at a community care facility only persons of good character who meet the standards for employees specified in the regulations.
Observation. Licensing observed one staff's file did not have character references.
Corrective action. Ensure that character references are obtained and verified for each employee before they start employment.
12030 - CCALA s.7(1)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. A criminal record check for one staff was not obtained through the Criminal Record Review Agency. The Manager said that she has applied for the CRC but has not received the results yet.
Corrective action. Please ensure all staff have a valid criminal record check through the Criminal Record Review Agency in Victoria

Manager removed all these items during the inspection. .One electric outlet was exposed in the nap room. Manager put oulet cover during inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health and safety of a child.
