  A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

  Observation. A child's diaper is changed on a towel that gets washed once a week.

  Corrective action. The Licensee is to provide a diaper change surface that is cleaned in-between changes.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

  Observation. Manager first aid certificate is not current. This is a repeat contravention from previous inspection #SMIA-D3BNL6. Manager said they forgot to renew it.

  Corrective action. Manager said that they will enroll in a program to renew their first aid certification and will provide licensing proof of enrolment.

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Upon inspection, there was Lysol wipes accessible to the children.

  Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Upon inspection, the fire extinguisher maintenance was over due.

  Corrective action. Please ensure fire extinguisher is maintained.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

  Observation. Upon review of the children's records, 2 files did not have medical numbers recorded.

  Corrective action. Please ensure children's files are complete.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Upon review of the attendance records, 5 departure times were not recorded in a 2 month time frame.

  Corrective action. Please ensure arrival and departure times are recorded.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

  Observation. Upon inspection the hot water in the children's washroom exceeded 49 degrees celsius.This is a repeat contravention.

  Corrective action. Please ensure water temperature does not exceed 49 degrees celsius.
