- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the temperature in the fridge measured at 8C. This is a repeat contravention.
Corrective action. The manager said they will monitor the fridge temperature to ensure it is between 0-4C
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed mats in the outdoor play area are curling, causing a potential tripping hazard
Corrective action. The manager said the mats will be fixed or replaced
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. Licensing observed that three children's care plans were not reviewed annually.
Corrective action. The manager said the care plans will be reviewed

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. Licensing observed that 1 staff had an expired ECE validation
Corrective action. The manager said they will obtain the new ECE validation

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Fridge temperature measured at 8.4 degrees Celsius. The temperature of the fridge was corrected during this inspection.
Corrective action. Manager said fridge temperature will be monitored regularly to ensure it is between 0-4 Celsius.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Manager said the annual emergency drill was conducted and recorded; but was unable to locate documentation of record for licensing review.
Corrective action. Manager said that the record will be posted on the facility's board alongside other records.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation. Some children's photos are printed in black and white on regular paper, making them unrecognizable, while some photos are from when they were infants. Licensing discussed the importance of having current photos so that the child can be readily identified in an emergency.
Corrective action. Manager said all children files will be updated with current photos

Observation. The number of children participating in the programs exceeded the facility’s maximum capacity of 10, as staff were providing care to 11 children.
Corrective action. A licensee must not exceed the maximum capacity as per the facility licence.
10120 - CCALA s.7(1)(b)(i) - Applicants for licences and licensees must notify a medical health officer immediately of any change in the information provided under section 9.
Observation. Duing inpsection Licensing observed that the garage had been set up with toys and equipment and was being used as a usable floor space (activity area) for children.
Corrective action. Licensing must be notified of any changes to a facility’s floor plan and usable floor space.
10010 - CCLR s.10(1) - A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (a) suitable for the age and development of the children.
Observation. A 30 month old child was not provided a toilet training seat during toileting routine.
Corrective action. Staff must ensure that equipment used by children is suitable for their age and development.
