    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the nap beds with bedsheets to be stacked together and touching.

    Corrective action. As the nap room is only used at nap time, the beds have been moved and spread out from one another.

  • HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

    A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection, licensing observed soiled diapers disposed of in an open container.

    Corrective action. During inspection, the manager replaced the open container with a covered one for disposal of soiled diapers.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

    Observation. Four children's files were reviewed; two were missing immunization status.

    Corrective action. The manager said that families will be contacted to update children's immunization status in thier files.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.

    Observation. Upon arrival, Licesning observed that staff had taken the children off-site without a first aid kit. The manager was aware that the staff did not have a first aid kit with them and explained that this was because the staff had a phone to use in an emergency. Licesning discussed when children are taken off-site, staff must have first aid kits readily available to them so they can provide first aid to children as needed.

    Corrective action. Manager said first aid kits will be taken; when children are taken off site.

    Observation. The service tag on the Fire extinguisher expired December 2023.

    Observation. Manager said that the fire drills are conducted monthly but not recorded.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that when monthly fire drills are practiced they are documented as well.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection Licensing observed on one day in November and one day in December children were not signed out. Manager corrected this during inspection.

    Corrective action. Please make sure children sign out times are recorded at departure times.
