  Observation. The children play in one main playroom, immediately adjacent to the entrance and exit. On the way to the bathroom and nap room, there are several rooms that are not suitable for children to enter. The doors to these rooms were all open or ajar.

  Observation. One child's registration forms were incomplete. The attendance indicated that 4 children were signed in. however, two were at preschool.

  Staff are trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and the emergency plan, including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(a)]

  Observation. The fire extinguisher by the entrance area has a tag that reads as though it was due for service in 2024.

  Observation. The licensee had purchased bi-fold door restrictors, however, they broke. The bi-fold doors continue to present a pinching hazard. There is a garbage can in the main play room that does not have a lid or cover. The hallway to the washroom and nap room from the designated play space has areas that are not to be used by the children. There are doorways and areas that are accessible but not suitable to children.

  All persons over the age of 12 that are ordinarily present on the premises while children are present are of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for each person. [CCLR Sec 20]

  Observation. CRC's have been submitted for the licensee and her husband but have not yet been returned cleared.

  Observation. There were two children napping in a nap room down the hall with the door closed. The audio monitor was not in use.

  Observation. There was a roll of paper towel on the window sill.

  There is a diaper changing area that is adjacent to a wash basin, that is located away from the food preparation area, and that has a covered container for soiled clothing. [CCLR Sec. 14(4)]

  Observation. There was visible debris ( food) on the high chair in the playroom. There are several bi-fold doors that do not have restrictors. The licensee demonstrated how she places a block under the door to prevent the doors from opening, however, this was ineffective. Outside of the playroom, accessible while walking down the hall to the bathroom and nap room are doors that are open to areas where children are not permitted.

  Observation. There is a child's record that indicates an anaphylaxis allergy to peanuts and a required Epi pen, but this may be referring to the sister of the child that attends.

  Observation. The licensee walks school age children across the street to the school in the middle of the block through the lane. In the back yard the orange fencing does not completely cover all of the hazards and is falling down in places. There are gas cans and tools accessible to children. The inside playroom has no windows to allow for fresh air to enter the play space. There is children's food / snack left out on the table. There was visible debris on the table and highchair.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: - A portable heater and a electric inflatable decoration with loose cord were accessible to children in the activity room - Multiple outdoor equipment were blocked and hampered the emergency supplies bins.

  Observation. One child was observed present during the inspection, however child's enrollment record and emergency consent card was not on file.

  Observation. There was no daily attendance at the time of inspection, no parent had signed in, no child was recorded present. This has been noted on several previous inspections.

  Observation. At the time Licensing arrived, there were 8 children in care.

  Observation. A partially filled child's milk / baby bottle was observed on the floor in the play room. Food was out on the table, no child was sitting eating it, there were also some food bits on the vacant high chair. A child's chair at the table has a cracked seat. Some toys were broken, sharp edges, accessible to children. The backyard has broken fence panels. The lawn mower is accessible to children. There is a broken window, accessible to children, near the cement stair case. There is a bottle of insecticide just outside the door that children use to access the playground. The door to the front door entrance area and upper level of the house was open.
