    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing observed multiple chemical cleaning solutions stored under the sink in the children's washroom. A child safe lock was observed but it was not applied.

    Corrective action. [CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION] The Licensee said she will ensure child safe lock is always applied.

  • STAFFING

    The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

    Observation. A criminal record check for a person over the age of 12 who is ordinarily present is not available.

    Corrective action. The Licensee said she will obtain the CRC for the person.

  • STAFFING

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

    Observation. Upon inspection there was a RCMP criminal record check on file for a staff.

    Corrective action. The licensee advised she hired a new staff and was having difficulties with applying for the criminal record check. She will advise licensing know once the criminal record has been applied for through the criminal record review board.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed loose cords in the nap room next to a crib that is used for a child to sleep and loose cords outside in an area children use to play.

    Corrective action. Ensure there are no loose cords accessible to children.

    Observation. Upon inspection the licensee showed a record of 2 months the fire drill was done. She said the other months were done but not recorded.

    Corrective action. Please ensure there is a record of monthly fire drills and yearly evacuation drills.
