    Observation. Upon inspection two tall shelves in the Group Child Care Under 36 month room were not secured to the wall, posing a risk in the event they fall.

    Corrective action. The director advised they will be secured to the wall.

    Observation. Upon inspection there was expired medication for a child in the Group Child Care 30 month to SA program.

    Observation. A child was found in an area of the playground with an open gate and unsupervised by staff.

    Corrective action. The manager has provided licensing with an interim outdoor safety plan and will update with a permanent plan once it has been decided.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Upon inspection the following was observed: - In the GCC 30 month to SA program, the bathroom had a patched hole where the toilet paper holder was and there was not a toilet paper holder or toilet paper in that stall. The Manager explained the two stalls are sharing toilet paper from the one stall while they await a solution. - In the GCC Under 36 months program, the nap beds were stacked with bedding on them - In the GCC Under 36 months program, the change pad had fabric on it and wasnt being changed between each use. The middle part of it was a fabric that was being sanitized but appeared dirty.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A telephone was sitting on a tall shelf and the telephone cord was not secured and within children's reach. This poses a risk of entanglement and a risk of injury if the cord was pulled causing the phone to fall. A child was napping next to the cord, below the phone.

    Corrective action. You must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times. The manager removed the phone from children's reach during the inspection.
