A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Licensing observed criminal record check was expired

Corrective action. The Manager said she will obtain a new criminal record check

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Upon inspection, the refrigerator temperature was 7 degrees Celsius and there is food in the fridge that is served to children. The licensee advised she will turn the temperature down and monitor it on an ongoing basis.

Corrective action. Please ensure the refrigerator temperature is between 0 and 4 degrees Celsius.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. Upon inspection there was no documentation of the fire drill being done in August 2024 and no record of the evacuation drill being done in the past year. The licensee advised it was done but not written and future drills will be documented.

Corrective action. Please ensure there is written documentation of all fire and evacuation drills.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection there were cleaners in 3 locations that were accessible to children. The Licensee advised she is going to install a shelf to have the supplies out of children's reach.

Corrective action. Please ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

Observation. Upon inspection, the name of the manager was not posted.

Corrective action. Please ensure the name of the manager is posted in a prominent place in the community care facility.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Upon inspection, one or more children did not have a name and telephone number listed for the medical practitioner

Corrective action. Please ensure each child has a record that includes the name and telephone number of the medical practitioner

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. Licensing Officer observed numerous cords located within children's reach in a partially opened, unlatched desk drawer in the children's main activity area.

Corrective action. Ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed an infant in his crib pulling a bag with fabric into his crib.The child was reaching for other equipment also to put in his crib which poses a hazard.The Licensee stated that she will move all the items away from the sleep area so they are inaccessible to the infants.

Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while the children are in care.

A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

Observation. Upon inspection of the outdoor play area, there was a large gap under the gate that a child could potentially crawl under and leave the premise.

Corrective action. Please ensure that the entire outdoor play area is enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that the children are free from harm.
