A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: - A climbing structure in the outdoor play area with no safe 6 feet radius falling zone. - Door to the garage was unlocked and accessible to children. Licensing observed heavy machinery, a bottle of bleach, and tools were stored in the garage.

Corrective action. The Licensee said she will reposition the climbing structure to ensure there is 6 feet radius falling zone. She will also ensure the door to garage is always locked.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed the following: Outdoor: - Multiple wooden frame rotten/loose - Rusted metal with nails sticking out observed around the pillar. - Multiple outdoor play materials had rips on them.

Corrective action. The Licensee said there is a plan in place to replace wooden frame and pillars. In the meantime, she will find a temporary solution to address the identified risk and increase supervision.

A licensee must ensure that each piece of furniture or equipment for sleeping (c) is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it.

Observation. Upon a conversation with the Licensee, children above the age and weight limit still use crib as sleeping equipment.

Corrective action. The Licensee said she will ensure children use floor sleeping mats from now on.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed children's sunscreen and diaper cream were accessible to children. Paint was stored in a storage room which had no child safe lock available.

Corrective action. (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) The Licensee said she will ensure the mentioned items are not accessible to children.

A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

Observation. Licensing observed children were not using single use towels to dry their hands after hand hygiene.

Corrective action. (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) The Licensee said she will ensure single use towel is used when children dry their hands.

In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.

Observation. Five children files were reviewed, one child's file was not available. The licensee said she has the child's file but it was misplaced.

Corrective action. The Licensee said she will ensure the child's file is always available in the facility.

Observation. there are two clasp on the hot tub that are not engaged, this presents a health and safety issue and it is repeat none compliance

Corrective action. please ensure the hot tub is secured on all corners

A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (b) a wash basin.

Observation. diaper pad was used in the play room area away from the bathroom and the change mat was kept in the nap room

Corrective action. the staff stated they will move the change mat to an area in close proximity to water

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Upon inspection, the following was observed: - 2 cords next to one of the cribs in the nap room - 2/4 locks were not secured on the hot tub

Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. Upon inspection there were 2 months that did not have a record of a fire drill and there was no record of an evacuation drill.

Corrective action. Please ensure there is a current record respecting compliance with section 22(2)(b) and (c)

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. Upon inspection there was not a photograph for each child available to view. The staff said the Licensee had photos but she was not onsite.

Corrective action. Please ensure there is a photograph or digital image of each child available to readily identify each child in an emergency.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

Observation. Upon inspection, there was one child not signed in who was present and 2 previous days that were missing one or more departure times.

Corrective action. Please ensure there is a daily attendance record indicating for each day, the time of arrival and departure.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Upon inspection the staff that was present at the time of inspection had an RCMP criminal record check only.

Corrective action. Please ensure a criminal record check is obtained through the criminal record check review board.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. Upon inspection, the Emergency evacuation was not recorded. The Licensee did say that it was practiced.

Corrective action. Please ensure there are current records respecting compliance with section 22(2)(b) and (c).

In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.

Observation. Upon inspection, the Licensee had not have a copy of one staff's resume and references. She did indicate that she has seen the resume and completed the reference checks.

Corrective action. Please ensure there is a record kept in a single place at the community care facility, of the records referred to in sections 56-58.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Upon inspection, one criminal record on file was not completed through the criminal records review program.

Corrective action. Please ensure all staff have a criminal record obtained through the criminal records review program.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one or more employees.

Corrective action. Please ensure the immunization status is obtained for all employees.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing Officer observed the following: - dog feces in the grass in the children's outdoor space - a lawnmower, accessible to children, in the children's outdoor space - an unlocked garage door; on the other side of the door is a drop off the depth of a few steps which could pose a hazard if a child were to fall - a cleaning product within the reach of children in the children's cubby area

Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is maintained at all times. Licensee corrected all items above during the inspection.

A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,

Observation. Licensing Officer observed 5 children under the age of 4 in care at the time of the inspection. According to CCLR Schedule E, if no child younger than 12 months old is present, a Family Child Care must have no more than 4 children younger than 48 months old in care.

Corrective action. Ensure to maintain the ages and numbers of children as outlined in CCLR Schedule E, at all times.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One of the seven children in care was not included in the daily record of attendance.

Corrective action. Ensure to keep an accurate record of attendance. Licensee corrected during the inspection.

A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).

Observation. The Licensee did not have the following records: - three children did not have a photo - one child was missing all required records - one child did not have a record of immunization

Corrective action. Ensure to keep a current record for each child.
