• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed medication, sunscreens, and chemical cleaning wipes were stored in a wagon which were accessible to children. Licensing observed batteries in the fridge and no child safe lock available. They were accessible to children.

  Corrective action. (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) The Manager said she will store the above mentioned items away from children's reach.

• MEDICATION

  If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

  Observation. Upon inspection, a care plan was observed for a child who requires an emergency medication but no specific instruction written in regard to the amount to be given if needed.

  Corrective action. The Manager said the parent informed the child does not need the medication anymore. The Manager will return the medication to the parent and update the care plan accordingly.

• LICENSING

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection the manager name was not posted

  Corrective action. Please ensure the name of the manager is posted in a prominent place in the community care facility.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the following: - A long rope attached to a children’s climber in the outdoor play space was within children’s reach and not secured on both ends, posing a risk of entanglement. A staff removed the rope during the inspection.

  Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times. Issue addressed at the time of the inspection.
