• C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

  Observation. Information used to identify children was found to be missing in a child's record. The Licensee is to review and update all records for any children currently attending. Submit by the follow up date requested confirmation the non compliance has been addressed.

• Has the facility been tested for radon gas?Non-critical

  Observation. The Licensee did not complete testing during the winter months in 2022. The Licensee is required to test the facility for 91 days consecutive days beginning in November 2023. Submit the test results to Licensing Direct.

• Has the drinking water for the facility been tested for lead content?Critical

  Observation. The Licensee has not tested the water for lead content to date. The Licensee is to provide a copy of the test results to Licensing Direct once received.

• Has the facility been tested for radon gas?Non-critical

  Observation. Licensee states the facility was previously tested and results were never received back. Licensee to follow up with the lab company and submit results to Licensing Direct once received. If the previous testing results are not attainable, the Licensee will be required to re-test during the winter months.

• C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

  Observation. The outdoor fence is in disrepair. The Licensee was aware, records in the inspection, repairs, and maintenance log for the outdoor area, and has a temporary plan to ensure there is no current risk to the health and safety of the children in care. The Licensee plans on replacing the fence once the ground is thawed enough to begin. Licensing acknowledges the Licensee may apply for funding to assist financially in the purchase of fencing supplies and installation. The Licensee is to submit corrective measures for the replacement of the fence by the follow up date provided. There is also a tiered level in the yard with a small concrete wall that is showing signs of deterioration. There is a small drop down to the regular level in the yard in which the children in care use. Licensing observed the Licensee supervising and guiding children away from the area. Licensing acknowledges that the Licensee may also try to attain funding to purchase supplies to block off this area off and/or make it more safe for the children in care. This is not a contravention, but would benefit the facility when using the outdoor play area. The concrete pad under the decking is used by children and has started to crack and deteriorate due to the extreme weather changes in that area with freezing and thawing. The Licensee is monitoring and presently is not a hazard to children in care. Licensing acknowledges the Licensee may also apply for funding to assist financially in the cost of removing, discarding, and replacing the concrete.
