A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. In the outdoor play space: - a rope swing on the wooden deck without any resilient material below - a wooden ramp without sufficient clearance around to ensure safety if a child were to fall - a stack of lumber above the height of some children which could pose a risk if it were to fall
Corrective action. The Licensee responded that they will do the following: - add resilient surfacing below the rope swing - remove the wooden ramp - reduce the height of the stack of lumber to ensure that it does not pose a risk if it were to fall

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Immunization status was not obtained for one employee.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

Observation. Licensing observed the following: - protruding screw ends under the stairs, accessible to children in an area where they play - a hanging looped cord above the sandbox, accesssible to children which could pose a risk of entanglement
Corrective action. The manager stated that these hazards will be removed.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: - change table beneath the diaper mat is visibly soiled - damage to the wall behind the garbage can in the kitchen area; exposing drywall - the drywall in an area below the stairs where children play is exposed/not finished - areas around the three doors within the area of the home where children are cared for are visibly soiled - sections of wooden deck railings in the outdoor play space are not secure - sections of the wooden fence enclosing the outdoor play area are not secure
Corrective action. The manager confirmed that these areas identified will be cleaned and/or repaired.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. Six children were in attendance; however, two were not included on today's record of attendance.
Corrective action. The manager corrected the attendance during the inspection.
