- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed loose electrical wires hanging from the ceiling; these appeared to be accessible to children in care. Additionally, the facility was not following the two step method of cleaning and disinfecting as surfaces were not cleaned with soap or detergent before disinfecting.
Corrective action. Manager to implement two step method of cleaning and disinfecting
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation. Licensing measured the water temperature in two washrooms, one on the upper level of the facility and the other on the lower level. The water temperature in the upper level washroom exceeded 55 degrees Celsius .
Corrective action. Manager to purchase a regulator to lower the temperature of the hot water.
11230 - CCLR s.47 - NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES
A licensee must ensure that safe drinking water is available to children.
Observation. Licensing observed that there was no drinking water available to children in care on the upper level of the facility. This was confirmed by staff.
Corrective action. Manager to establish a system to ensure safe drinking water is available to children in care.

- MEDICATION
If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.
Observation. Upon review of the program log book a child had a medicinal product applied on April 9, 2025 for exposure to a Stinging Nettle Plant. The LO reviewed this product with the manager at the time of the inspection regarding the requirement to have parental permission to use any and all medicinal products.
Corrective action. Ensure medications used are prescribed and approved by the parent prior to use.
16010 - CCLR s.53(1)(a) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Five children's files were reviewed and one child did not have evidence of medical insurance plan available.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's registration forms are complete including medical insurance plan numbers.

- POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Fire extinguisher had no tag indicating last inspection date. Fire extinguisher must be professionally inspected and tagged once a year.
Corrective action. Ensure that fire extinguisher is serviced annually.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must notify the medical health officer within 24 hours after (a) a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H while under the care or supervision of the licensee.
Observation. Licensee did not notify the licensing officer within 24 hours that a child was involved in or may have been involved in a reportable incident as described in Schedule H as required. LO had a discussion in regards to reporting any service delivery to Licensing.
Corrective action. Ensure reportable incidents are reported to Licensing within 24 hrs. If LO cannot be contacted, please contact the duty officer at 604-587-3936.
19030 - CCLR s.55(2)(a) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Care plans available had no dates and signatures from the parent, indicating that plans were developed and reviewed at least once a year with the parent.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete.
