  • MEDICATION

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

    Observation. A child in the program has access to their medication without written parental permission. Another child's record includes medication instructions; however, the medication is not on site.

    Corrective action. A staff requested written permission from a parent during the inspection and will review instructions for the second child with the parent and ensure to obtain medication if still required.

    Corrective action. Staff stated care plans would be updated as required.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed three care plans of which had not been reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent. One had last been reviewed in 2022 and staff stated the other was undated and was unable to provide confirmation of last date of review.

    Corrective action. Staff stated they would review and update care plans as required.
