    Observation. A reportable incident related to a 'Service Delivery Problem' had not been reported to Licensing within 24 hours. This was corrected during the inspection. A random selection of child records were reviewed, the name and contact details of the medical practitioner was missing from one child's records. A parent had identified that they did not consent to the Licensee calling a medical practitioner or ambulance in an emergency.

    Observation. The manager's name was not displayed in a prominent place in the facility.

    Observation. Two children who were sleeping in the Infant room were not supervised. It was observed the nap room door was closed and no staff were present in the building, nor was any monitoring device is use.

    Observation. The veneer on one of the bathroom vanities is coming unglued exposing sharp edges.

    Observation. The facilities supervision policy does not effectively guide employees in the supervision of children. The policy does not define what "appropriate" supervision is, nor does it address specific supervision strategies. The supervision of children's nap time is not detailed in the policy.

    Observation. Submit updated COVID-19 policy ensuring it meets the current requirements and plans to ensure it is implemented.

  • C6.1 - Are acceptable hygiene practices maintained?Non-critical

    Observation. Several mailouts were sent to facilities indicating that all staff and school age children were now required to wear masks inside the facilities to promote health in regard to COVID-19. After 4 incident reports were received from the facility, it is determined that the facility is not up to date with current requirements and practices/policies in regard to COVID-19 precautions. The manager confirmed mask wearing is not occurring as they thought it was a suggestion. Submit updated plans to correct this issue immediately and an updated policy on how you instruct both staff and children to practise the current rules of health and hygiene.

    Observation. (C4.1A) Allegation to Section 55(1)(a)(b) - Notification of illness or injury Substantiated Immediate notification to parent was not provided regarding an injury to the child. (C4.1E) Contravention to Section 57(2)(g) As a result of the complaint investigation, it became apparent the system to record notification to parents of illness or injury, is incomplete. The Licensee will review and revise the current system regarding notification of illness or injury including record of notification to the parent. Provide to licensing confirmation of the correction by the noted correction date.

    Observation. At this time the facility does not have a system in place to verify the staff's Licence to Practice Certificates are valid. This verification is done on the ECE Registry website. Please ensure a system to verify is in place. (Section 19 (4))

    Observation. Several of the sheets in the Infant/Toddler room 1 appeared soiled and unclean. The staff state the sheets are stained however it is observed that some of the stains appear quite recent. Sheets are laundered weekly. Ensure sheets that are soiled from milk, urine, or other bodily fluids are laundered prior to their next use.
