Observation. There were no references one file for one of the employees and only one reference on file for an additional employee. Employees must have more than one character reference on file which demonstrates the licensee's evaluation of the employee's suitability during hiring. Observation. During the inspection the ratio of employees to children did not meet the requirements of Schedule E. Four children under 36 months were present. The minimum standard in respect to age mix ratios outlined in Schedule E must be maintained at all times. Outline how the facility has come back into compliance and how the licensee will ensure compliance going forward.

Observation. An employee who is ordinarily present on the premises and has access to children does not have the appropriate type of criminal record check through the Criminal Records Review Program on file.

Observation. A log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events is not being kept as required. Develop a system to ensure this is kept going forward. One child file was missing a care card number. Several child files were missing immunization status as required. These records must be obtain and the Licensee must ensure these items are on file for children prior to starting care. While a log of monthly maintenance to the outdoor play space is being kept, a log of daily inspections is not being kept

Observation. During the inspection both doors to the classroom were open. One child was observed wandering into the front entrance area and the hallway alone. Another child was also observed entering the kitchen area alone, which is meant to be off limits to children. It is important for the health and safety of children that any areas that are off limits to children or do not have adequate supervision should be made inaccessible. Provide a plan on how this will be ensured going forward.

Observation. Fire drill log for 2024 had 3 months of fire inspections logged for the year. Fire drills must be practiced by employees once per month and recorded each time. Emergency plan practice for 2024 was not recorded.

Observation. One employee does not have the required records on file at the facility - resume, references, immunization status and criminal record check. Fire drills were not practiced by employees in May, June, July and August of 2022.
